PostNatal massage

Post Partum is a period in women’s life where she may neglect herself in favour of looking after her baby. Resting is vital for optimum hormone balance, and to make it easier for her body to re-adjust post birth.

You can come for a Postnatal massage as soon as you feel ready – if you have had a natural, complication-free labour, you can enjoy a massage the very next day if needed! If you have had complications with the birth or a cesarean, I would advise that you wait at least 3 weeks for healing to take place.

Post Natal Massage can provide relief from complaints such as lower back ache, hip pain, pelvic girdle pain, sciatica, headaches, and neck & shoulder tension.

You may have the massage while lying on your side if your breasts or abdomen are sore. Or you could choose a seated massage to provide relief, loosening any tension that may be developing in the shoulders with the vast amounts of feeding, lifting, and carrying that you are suddenly doing,

Some women prefer gentle work on their abdomen, to help their tummy recover. Or you may be ready for deep tissue massage to sort out other areas of tension remaining from your pregnancy?

Where there may have been a Caesarean, we can also undertake some scar tissue massage after 6 weeks, to help with the healing, and I can teach some gentle techniques for use at home.

Massage is an excellent stress buster and mood elevator, and may therefore be found to be helpful if you are experiencing the ‘baby blues’ or postnatal depression. I can also use aromatherapy blends tailored to your needs at your treatment.
