Massage during a healthy pregnancy is perfectly safe. Pregnancy massage can be of great benefit to mother and unborn baby. Having massage during pregnancy emotionally and physiologically supports a woman, during a time when her body is undergoing many changes, and can help prepare a woman’s body for birth.
Pregnancy massage can help alleviate aches and pains and other common health problems associated with pregnancy, such as back ache or tired legs and feet.
Preparing for the arrival of a new baby is exciting, but it can also be a stressful time. Massage can help lower your stress levels and is very soothing and calming.
Your baby also benefits from massage as you release “feel-good” hormones during your massage, called endorphins, which are passed on to your baby.
Pregnancy massage is suitable after the first trimester. Please check that your midwife or GP is happy for you to proceed with massage therapy before booking.
Your therapist is fully trained in specific pregnancy massage techniques and has a diploma in pregnancy massage.

There are some things that must be taken into consideration before booking:
*You must be at least 12 weeks pregnant to have massage or reflexology. There is no data saying that treatments are harmful before this time, however this rule is typical in the industry. Some of our therapists also require you to have had your booking/dating scan and been assured that all is well, so please check with the individual therapist if you have not yet had this.
*You must not have any problems with high or unstable blood pressure.
*There must be no history of bleeding in any previous pregnancy, or history of miscarriage.
*For postnatal massage, you must have had your postnatal check-up.
