Remedial Massage

Remedial Sports Massage Glasgow

Remedial massage is a focused treatment for treating injuries, muscular aches and pains, and postural imbalances. When muscles and tendons become damaged or impaired, knotted and tense or immobile, remedial massage provides a healing treatment and the pressure can be adjusted to your preferences. Remedial massage holistically treats the whole body and traces discomfort as far as possible back to the original cause, healing both the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms.

I will initially assess the range of movement of the affected area - for example if you have neck tension/ stiffness I will be comparing the range of movement to the left and right side when you move your head and if you are experiencing pain or discomfort on that movement. I am looking to pin point which muscles are involved in creating the restriction and will most likely be in a shortened tense state.

During the massage I will also be looking for trigger points in the muscle, these are points in the muscle where the muscle fibres are not functioning as they should, and very likely to be referring pain to other parts of the body and causing movement dysfunction. These points have been well documented by researchers in this field and usually follow the same pain referral patterns. I can use techniques to release the effect of the trigger point, increase blood flow to the area which will help restore a healthy metabolism within the affected muscle fibres.

If you’re suffering from a soft tissue injury or have a recurring problem, remedial massage could help. Remedial massage is a deep tissue massage which creates the correct conditions to allow the body to heal itself.

It can be helpful if you are experiencing pain and discomfort from muscle tension, usually from the way your are using your body on a day to day basis i.e sitting at a desk for pre-longed periods, laptop working, regular long distance driving, over - exercising etc

In this treatment I may also use some heat to warm the affected muscles, along with some assisted stretches. There is also the option to include some dry cupping which can help release restricted fascia and further increase blood flow.
